What You’ll Be Doing
Participants will become essential team members on livestock farms across Germany. Key responsibilities include:
- Feeding, cleaning, and caring for animals such as cattle, pigs, and poultry
- Monitoring animal health and reporting irregularities
- Maintaining hygiene standards in barns and equipment
- Operating basic farm machinery (if qualified)
- Supporting general farm operations and following supervisor instructions
Working Conditions & Compensation
- Standard Schedule: 40 hours per week
- Overtime: Occasionally required, compensated according to German labor laws
- Salary: Approx. €14/hour before taxes, with potential monthly earnings up to €2,240 (based on 160 hours)
- Accommodation: Shared, well-equipped housing provided near the workplace, with a €300/month rent deduction
Visa & Processing Timeline
- Visa Type: German Work Visa
- Processing Time: Approximately 3.5 months from application submission
Applicants will receive full support from EU Helpers, the program’s coordinating organization, including assistance with visa documentation, onboarding, and legal compliance.
Who Can Apply?
The program is open to candidates who meet the following criteria:
Educational Background:
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Agriculture, Animal Life Science, Animal Husbandry, or Veterinary Science
- Degrees must be from universities listed as H+ in the German Anabin portal
Experience:
- Minimum of 2–3 years of hands-on experience with livestock or farm animals
Language Requirement:
- Minimum B1 level in English
- Verified through an interview with EU Helpers
Additional Requirements:
- Age: 21 to 40 years old
- Driving license: Not mandatory, but an advantage
- Financial preparedness to cover travel, visa, and initial settlement costs
- Strong physical condition and a motivated, reliable attitude
