Public Holidays and Employee Leave Policies in Belarus

    Official Public and Provincial Holidays in Belarus:

    • 1 January – New Year’s Day
    • 2 January – New Year Holiday
    • 7 January – Orthodox Christmas Day
    • 8 March – Women’s Day
    • 1 May – Labour Day
    • 9 May – Victory Day
    • 14 May – Radonitsa (Day of Remembrance)
    • 3 July – Independence Day of the Republic of Belarus
    • 7 November – October Revolution Day
    • 25 December – Catholic Christmas Day

    Each of these is designated a National Holiday, granting a paid day off for the majority of employees across the country.


    Employee Leave Entitlements

    In addition to public holidays, Belarusian labor law mandates specific types of paid leave to protect employee well-being:

    • Annual/Earned Leave:
      Employees are entitled to 30 days of paid annual leave each calendar year. This leave is compulsory and must be granted annually.
    • Sick Leave:
      Workers may receive up to 30 days of paid sick leave per year. This mandatory provision ensures workers can recover from illness without sacrificing income.
    • Maternity Leave:
      Expectant mothers are granted 17 weeks of paid maternity leave. This is a compulsory entitlement to support maternal and child health.

    These leave provisions are structured to ensure a healthy work-life balance and to uphold workers’ rights in accordance with national employment standards in Belarus.
