WORK VISAS AND RESIDENCE PERMITS IN SLOVAKIA

    Work Visa Process

To work legally in Slovakia, foreign nationals must obtain a work visa.
The process involves the following steps:

    1. Job Offer – The first step is securing a job offer from a Slovak employer, as this serves as the basis for your visa application.
    2. Application Submission – Once a job offer is secured, applicants must submit a work visa application at the Slovak embassy or consulate in their home country.

Required Documentation – A complete application must include essential documents such as:

    • A valid passport
    • An employment contract from the Slovak employer
    • Proof of accommodation in Slovakia
    • Any additional documents requested by the authorities

Processing Time – The standard processing time for a Slovak work visa is approximately 30 days.
However, this may vary depending on individual circumstances and embassy workload.

    Residence Permit for Employment

After arriving in Slovakia, foreign workers must apply for a residence permit to stay in the country legally.

    • Initial Residence Permit – Typically issued for a period of two years, depending on the type of employment contract.
This permit is renewable as long as the individual remains employed in Slovakia.
    • Long-Term Residence – After five years of continuous residence, foreign nationals can apply for a long-term or permanent residence permit, granting extended rights to live and work in Slovakia.

By following these steps, foreign professionals can ensure a smooth transition to working and living in Slovakia while complying with local immigration regulations.
