ENTRY TO ITALY

    Accepted Documents for Entry

To enter Italy, EU citizens must present one of the following:

    • A valid passport
    • A temporary passport
    • A national ID card

These documents are sufficient for crossing the border and beginning your stay in Italy legally.

    Legal Stay Period and Registration

Once in Italy, EU citizens are allowed to stay legally for up to 90 days without any formal registration. This period is ideal for tourism, short visits, or job searching.

However, if you plan to stay longer than 90 days, you are required to register your residence with the local municipal office, known as the comune. This involves submitting an application for registration (iscrizione anagrafica), which grants you legal residency status.

Traveling to Italy as an EU citizen is simple and hassle-free. Just ensure you carry valid identification, and if you plan an extended stay, don’t forget to register with the local authorities after 90 days to remain in compliance with Italian law.
